Farmers Market Update

April 7, 2021

We will not be at the farmers markets this weekend but we are optimistic about the weeks ahead. The new seedlings we transplanted this week (over 3000) are big and healthy. And, several of the greens that were minimally affected are looking good as of today.
Farming can be unpredictable and unstable. This isn't our first hurdle and it won't be our last. Thank you so much for your expressions of concern and support! We will see you soon!

Every season comes with new challenges and this Spring has been no exception. The daily radical changes in weather can be extreme for some of our more fragile plants and excessive rain (or snow) can cause unpredictable source water that’s used to feed our crops. The water may become too heavily alkaline and mineral-rich as it works its way through the rocky limestone soil and often times the damage has been done before the plant presents a decline in health. The lettuces are always the hardest hit.
You'll notice the lack of inventory this week. Sadly, the lettuces we do have are not the quality we're accustomed to and can be found in the "2 Star" category.
We've done some culling this week to make room for healthy, new seedlings that will take some time to get to market. In the meantime, we will be at Montclair this Saturday but Denville is closed for Easter. We're not sure about the next couple of weeks but, of course, we will keep you posted.

Thank you for your patience and, as always, your so appreciated support!
